About

Over 40,000 adolescents and young adults aged 15-39 are diagnosed with cancer in Europe every year. These cancer patients form a unique group, facing distinct age-specific challenges both medical and psychosocial and that can differ from the challenges faced by paediatric and older adult patient groups.

Unlike dedicated healthcare systems for children with cancer, AYA-specific healthcare services are scarce and non-standard across Europe and the distinct challenges they face mean they do not receive tailored care in either paediatric or typical adult oncology settings.

The European Network for Teenagers and Young Adults with Cancer (ENTYAC) aims to bring together professionals who work across all areas of cancer related care for patients in this age group to achieve the following:

  • Widen engagement about AYA cancer
    • Meaning more and more people in Europe working in AYA cancer care have a network of professionals to collaborate and exchange ideas with.
  • Create a more expert workforce
    • Through using a collaborative approach and not working in silos, knowledge and skills are continuously improved and best practice shared.
  • Be a loud clear voice for AYA with cancer
    • We work to raise awareness of the problems faced by AYA’s with cancer, specifically reaching out to organisations and individuals who do not have AYA cancer care at the fore, both within Europe and globally
  • Widen interdisciplinary and patient-centred co-operative working in the AYA cancer field.
    • We assist our members to encourage a more interdisciplinary, international and inclusive approach to work.
